SAN DIEGO – Jobing.com, San Diego’s online employment community, has announced a new partnership with the San Diego Committee on Employment of People With Disabilities.  The partnership will provide additional resources for the Committee as it advocates and promotes employment opportunities for people with disabilities, including an enhanced job board through the committee web site, access to a variety of free job seeker resources, and support during the Committee’s Jobtoberfest 2007 event.

In conjunction with National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the San Diego Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities is hosting Jobtoberfest 2007 on October 2, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Balboa Park Club  In addition to this new partnership, Jobing.com is one of the sponsors of the event along with Harrah's Rincon Hotel and Casino, Viejas Enterprises, Marriott Hotel, Qualcomm Union Bank of California, Time Warner Communications, Sea World, EDS and Vons.  At Jobtoberfest, dozens of San Diego employers will be able to meet face-to-face with hundreds of candidates; the event is free to attend and open to the public.

“Jobing.com’s commitment to the communities we serve has been at the heart of our business since our inception,” said Rosanna Indie, Community Relations Manager.  “We are committed to building and nurturing rewarding relationships with civic and professional partners, and this is a natural fit for both organizations.  It is our hope that this new partnership will serve to strengthen our community through increased awareness of the Committee’s mission to promote equal employment opportunities for all in San Diego.”

“This partnership allows us to greatly strengthen our online job board, providing the most comprehensive listing of San Diego employment opportunities available for job seekers,” said Kevin Starks, Committee President. “But beyond that, we are thrilled to partner with Jobing.com for the many other resources and support they bring to the Committee and the San Diego community.”

About the San Diego Committee on Employment of People With Disabilities

The San Diego Committee on Employment of People With Disabilities is an organization that advocates and promotes employment opportunities for people with disabilities through community action, education and collaboration with community agencies, government agencies and private companies. SDCEPD was founded in 1999 as a part of the Govenor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities.  As a result of new legislation and the establishment of One Stop Centers, Workforce Partnership and other Agencies, the Afflilated Local Committees on Employment of People with Disabilities were divested from the Govenor’s committee in 2005.  SDCEPD is the only all volunteer non profit committee in San Diego devoted entirely to enhancing employment opportunities for people with disabilities.  SDCEPD Committee is comprised of volunteers from the public, private and non profit sectors.  The committee works closely with the Department of Rehabilitation, Workforce Partnership Disability Navigation Coordinators and other Agencies in providing training and resources to employers and job seekers with disabilities.  SDCEPD supports agencies and events that promote employment opportunities for job seekers with disabilities.  We also support other events that enhance or provide visibility to the disabled workforce.  Past events include NAMI Walk, Cal-Diego PVA Reflections, and Youth Leadership Forum for Students with Disabilities.  For more information, visit http://www.sdcepd.org.
