Job: Charge Description Master Analyst - LDS Hopsital

The charge description master (CDM) analyst monitors and maintains the hospital departmental charge master to ensure that new and existing charge codes are within applicable coding guidelines, provides reimbursement analysis, assists with bill problem resolution, and provides coverage guidelines for billable services to reduce or prevent future claim denials. Ensures the appropriate bundling or unbundling of charges so that all charges submitted result in maximum reimbursement while following applicable billing, coding, and reimbursement regulations. Assists the billing personnel in resolving third party payer billing problems. Reviews Medicare intermediary and other third party payer bulletins to keep current on billing requirements. Communicates relevant information to all applicable departments. Communicates results through daily interaction and monthly status meetings. Provides other support as needed.

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business, Finance or a Healthcare related field.

Previous healthcare experience required.

Three years experience in Patient Account Services or CPT/diagnosis coding preferred.

Excellent computer, critical thinking, and analytical problem solving skills with strong attention to detail required.

Working knowledge of database accessing computer languages (ex SQL) is preferred.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral) with all staff levels required.

Coding certification preferred (CPC, CPC-H, or CCS certification). If not currently certified, must be certified within 2 years of employment.

Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required; knowledge of Microsoft Access preferred.
