Location: UT-West Valley City
Facility: Health Services The incumbent in this position will assist the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer with the implementation and maintenance of a coordinated and integrated Corporate Compliance Program at Intermountain Healthcare ("IHC"). Intermountain's Corporate Compliance Program is a system-wide program that serves to promote a culture of compliance and ethics, ensure quality of care, and reduce Intermountain's risk of Government audits, fines, penalties, or sanctions (e.g., expulsion from the Medicare Program) 1. This employee will serve as a compliance consultant and coding advisor for the compliance department, specifically to be utilized in response to Government Enforcement Response activities, proactive and reactive. 2. The consultant will be analyzing the results of internal and external coding audits, and will utilize this information to focus on education and implementation of corrective action plans to improve overall coding and documentation accuracy throughout the system. 3. Must be able to manage projects and oversee programs that overlap between several clinical and business areas, ensuring that processes are efficient. 4. The consultant will also coordinate with the Central Appeals Unit to determine which cases and issues are appropriate for appeal in order to recover appropriate reimbursement. 5. Assist in developing quality improvement plans. 6. Continually improve processes related to government enforcement response. Skills / Requirements
Bachelor's Degree required in a health care related field (clinical or operations). Two years of medical coding experience is required. Must be a certified coder or willing to obtain a coding certificate within 12 months of your hire date. Ability to demonstrate strong critical thinking skill through work history. Must have strong communication skills (both verbal and written) enabling effective communication with clinicians and employees at all levels. Requires a moderate to high knowledge of health care regulations and the ability to research and interpret them. Ability to effectively and confidentiality advise and interact with all levels of personnel. Ability to work in a team management environment and to develop appropriate relationships that foster a positive work atmosphere and support Intermountain Health Care's Mission, Vision, and Values. Ability to efficiently use computer programs necessary to complete work requirements. Experience working on projects with a team and filling various roles such as team member, facilitator, leader, etc. Ability to deal with highly sensitive and confidential material and adhere to data security and confidentiality protocols and procedures. Will occasionally be required to travel to Intermountain Facilities throughout the State. Important Notes
