POSITION PURPOSE:


This position is responsible for performing all necessary diagnostic testing related to the field of EEG. Ambulatory EEG, Long Term Epilepsy Monitoring and Evoked Potentials are also required. Proficiency in both inpatient and outpatient setting are necessary. Daily job attendance, as well as rotations of on-call are necessary.

ESSENTIAL JOB DESCRIPTION:


1. Performing EEG in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

2. Must demonstrate knowledge of proper measurement of the Ten-Twenty International Convention of Electrode Placement.

3. Preparation of electrode sites to insure impedances are kept below 5 k/ohms.

4. Proper knowledge of necessary testing environment needs, in order to minimize electrical interference and 60 hz artifact.

5. Knowledge of pharmacology which interferes with the interpretation of testing.

6. Knowledge of environmental causes which can confound or confuse the interpretation of the record.

7. Be able to perform testing in a timely and accurate fashion.

8. Basic knowledge of waveform recognition to assure proper communication of critical patterns being reported to the neurology physician on call.

9. Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds and be willing to transport machinery to and from inpatient testing location.

10. Critical thinking in high stress situations.

11. Courteous treatment of patients and patient's families.

12. Ability and willingness to work with critically ill patients.

13. Ability and willingness to work with difficult/impaired patients.

14. Proper knowledge of infection control measures and hand washing.

15. Proper knowledge of electrode cleaning and disposal.

16. Proper notification to supervisor of needed equipment and supplies.

17. Tracking of all patients for billing, documentation and statistical needs.

18. Timely notification to reading physician of records to be interpreted with all necessary information to communicate with referring physician.

19. Timely notification of completion of test for billing.

20. Sending out reports in a timely manner.

22. Other duties as assigned by manager and medical director.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


· High School Graduate or GED required.

· Basic medical terminology required.

· 2 years experience in EEG and REEGT certification required.

· Experience in Ambulatory EEG, Long Term EEG Monitoring, and Evoked potential preferred.

· Current BLS certification or certified by start date required.

· Basic computer skills needed/keyboard experience as required.

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and at least one type of Digital EEG software required.

· Must be knowledgeable of billing procedures, hospital and department policies and procedures.

· Excellent interpersonal relations and communication skills.
