Job: Monitor Tech - EEG

Location: UT-Murray
Facility: Intermountain Medical Center

Position Purpose: The EEG Monitoring Technician is responsible for monitoring epilepsy patients receiving long-term EEG services.


Job Essentials:


1) Monitor patients receiving long-term EEG video monitoring while an inpatient at Intermountain Medical Center.

2) Must show appropriate concern for patients and ensure patient safety.

3) Assists the EEG tech in setting up equipment for each patient.

4) Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunction as needed, notifying nursing, EEG and medical staff if appropriate.

5) Has an understanding of event monitoring and notifies nursing and medical staff of seizure activity and/or variances. Interact with the patient during events, documenting as needed.

6) Maintains and prunes patient EEG reports from admission through discharge, saving the data in the appropriate system.

7) Responds to patient call lights and notifies nursing and/or medical staff.

8) Maintain a good rapport with patients, staff and physicians.

Minimum Qualifications:




1) High school graduate or GED required.

2) Prior patient care experience preferred but not required.

3) Basic life support Health Care Provider card required by start date.

4) Effective interpersonal communication skills.

5) Basic working knowledge of Microsoft.

6) Must be able to work variable shifts (days, evening, nights, weekends).

7) Work prn depending on needs of the department.
