Jobing Description
Location: UT-Salt Lake City
Facility: Primary Children%27s Med

This RN position is responsible for the assessment, planning, development, implementation, management, coordination, and ongoing evaluation of Primary Children's Medical Center (PCMC) Medical Simulation Laboratory Program. This RN position works closely with the program medical director, Pediatric Education Services (PES) and other PCMC staff in identifying program needs and appropriate learning strategies, reviewing learning options, testing learning tools, debriefing teams, and evaluating program learning effectiveness.


Some of the job responsibilities include:

Develop, evaluate, and maintain simulation program activities for style, content, cognitive skill training, application into practice and team training

Maintain clinical skill competency

Integrates audience learning abilities, adult learning principles and debriefing techniques into program activities

Facilitates structured debriefing for small multidisciplinary groups of adult learners after completion of simulation training

Demonstrates keen problem identification, skills resolution, and ability to prioritize program activities

Partners with educational content expert and PES team members to coordinate development of computer based training applications

Ensures that e-learning modules, simulations and tests are accessible to end users, work together and track appropriately

Gives and accepts feedback on simulation program initiatives to obtain desired outcomes

Maintains optimum communications with all hospital departments to facilitate appropriate scheduling and coordination of medical simulation laboratory.

This position is full-time, 40 hours, Monday-Friday with some occasional travel.


Skills / Requirements

Requires current Utah RN license, a minimum of 5 years recent RN experience with 2 of those years in critical care, BLS and PALS. Also requires a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with a Master's preferred. Must have experience in program planning, implementation and evaluation, managing multiple projects and problem solving. Also requires demonstrated leadership, teaching ability and knowledge of adult learning theories and methodologies. Experience using and troubleshooting AV equipment (i.e. data projectors, burning CDs, playing DVD's, closed circuit TV's) and computer software. Also requires proficiency in computer programs including word processing, spreadsheet and other applications. Must be able to peform the phsyical requirements of the role either with or without reasonable accomodation.


Prefer candidates with 5 years of pediatric acute care/critical care experience and PALS certified. Master's Degree Preferred.
