Jobing Description
Location: UT-Murray
Facility: Intermountain Medical Center

The Utah Artificial Heart Program is a nationally renowned mechanical circulatory support program that provides artificial heart/left ventricular assist device technology to patients with end-stage heart failure. The Utah Artificial Heart Program Clinical Nurse Coordinator serves as an expert nurse clinician, coordinator, educator and facilitator for all aspects of mechanical circulatory support-related patient care, to insure that the highest quality of care is available and provided to patients on mechanical circulatory support.


This position is also responsible for assisting with OR implants.


This position is full-time days, four days per week, primarily Monday through Friday with a rotating Saturday/Sunday of on-call every 5 weeks, with flexibility to occasionally report to work earlier or stay late, as well as respond to emergencies as needed. Due to the nature of supporting patients with mechanical circulatory support, there may be an occasional time when providing care is required during the night. Some travel required. 7-8 days of rotating on-call is required per month, with ability to respond in person to the hospital with in 30 minutes of being called in.




Skills / Requirements

Requirements:

UT RN license


Two years Cardiovascular critical care, telemetry, or acute med/surg RN work experience within the last 5 years is required



Basic Life Support (BLS) certified; healthcare provider certification



Physical ability to perform tasks in the assigned work areas



Ability to effectively communicate both written and orally



Successful completion of the pre-hire and post-hire competency examination(s)

On call availability, 7-8 days per month
Ability to work independently, self-directed


Preferences:



Experience caring for mechanical circulatory support patients (ventricular assist devices, artificial heart)



Operating Room or Emergency Room experience



Charge Nurse or Case Management experience



Education program development



Training and presentation skills



First Responder experience

Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Tandem experience
Research experience
