Working Title: HOTSHOT SUPERINTENDENT
Salary Range: Step 45 ($17.89) to Step 60 ($26.89)
Agency: Department of Natural Resources

Location: Draper, Utah - Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands, Lone Peak Conservation Center, 271 West Bitterbush Lane, Draper, Utah 84020
Part/Full Time: Full Time - incumbent must have a flexible schedule, such as working evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the demands of this position.
Per the Governor's "Working 4 Utah" initiative, beginning August 4, 2008 the schedule for this position will be 10 hour days Monday-Thursday. This is a pilot program and will be evaluated fall 2009; schedule subject to change.

HOTSHOT SUPERINTENDENT Job Characteristics:
  • Manages a complex fire resource program by integrating numerous employees to form a group or groups of independent resources
  • Ensures proper delivery of all assigned resource(s) services through oversight, guidance and fiscal accountability
  • Required to fulfill agency and inter-agency requirements for the establishment and delivery of wild land fighting resource services
  • Serves in a key fire management position that requires extensive experience in wild land fire suppression and personnel management
  • Serves as an agency representative to interface with local and regional dispatch centers, agency and inter-agency overhead and the public
  • Directly impacts the annual delivery of products and services derived from agency strategic planning, in addition, may develop, oversee and manage all aspects of the wild land fire program.
