GENERAL FUNCTION:


Develops, maintains, and supports customized database reports using ARUP standard tools and practices. Participates as an active member of the Crystal Reports Group, and provides Crystal Report development backup support to other member of the Group. Work on continually improving end-use access to data in ARUP corporate databases.


REPORTING FUNCTION:


This position reports to the IT Software Development Supervisor - ANSR.


REPRESENTATIVE ACTIVITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Essential functions of the Report Programmer include, but are not limited to the following:


1) Data analysis and reporting services

a) Provide database reporting as requested by the IT Department and others.

b) Utilize ARUP standard tools such as Crystal Reports and Crystal Enterprise.

c) Works closely with end users to develop report requirements and specifications.

d) Analyzes data and works with others in IT to ensure correct and efficient data retrieval.

e) Ensures report accuracy by completely validating the content. Responisble for report software e deployment.

f) Adheres to all IT Department software development policies, processes, and procedures.

g) Maintains a backed-up inventory of report and extraction software using ARUP standard tools.

h) Provide phone, email and in-person assistance on data reporting issues.


2) Report Maintenance and Documentation

a) Support recurring reports, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.

b) Maintain all documentation of all data extraction requests and developed reports.

c) Occasionally may perform or assist in report publication and distribution.

d) Periodically review lab reports available online to ensure accuracy and relevance


3) Crystal Reports Group

a) Participate as an active member of the ARUP Crystal Reports Group.

b) Validate reports for other memebers of the Group.

c) Assist other member of the Group providing backup data reporting and extraction services as needed.


4) Continuous Improvement

a) Seek to continually improve end-user access tom, and utilization of, data in ARUP databases.

b) Remain up to date on new technologies and tools (e.g. Crystal Enterprise, Crystal Report) applicable to this position.

c) Remain informed and up to date on all applicable ARUP policies and procedures.

d) Maintain confidentiality of laboratory results/information according to ARUP policies.

e) Maintain open and effective communication with personnel in the IT Department and other departments at ARUP.

f) Demonstrate adaptability by embracing changed wit ha positive attitude. Provide constructive criticism for modification of information systems, procedures and policies.

g) Demonstrate professional demeanor, in personal appearance and behavior, in all work-related interactions.

h) Other duties as assigned. Management retains the discretion to add of change the duties of the position at any time.


Ability to use Crystal Reports and write effective SQL queries.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical Qualification, Education, Experience
1) Required High School education.

2) Desirable Associate or Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

3) Required two years relational database report writing experience.

4) Required, experience with SQL and/or Crystal Reports or similar reporting tools.

5) Desirable, two years clinical laboratory or other healthcare experience.
