Location: UT-Orem
Facility: Medical Group Staff

Provides a variety of patient care tasks including preparation of patients to be seen by physicians, performance of diagnostic tests and appropriate documentation. To provide quality patient care efficiently and cost effectively by assisting Physicians and other providers in their specialized areas. The Medical Assistant I functions under the supervision of the Physician in the clinical setting and participates appropriately in the patient care delivery process. The Medical Assistant I understands and utilizes a collaborative, team-based approach to patient care. A Medical Assistant I performs routine clerical and clinical tasks to keep the offices and clinics of Physicians and other providers running smoothly. The duties of a Medical Assistant I may vary from office to office, depending on practice location, size, and specialty. In small practices, a Medical Assistant I is usually a "generalist," handling most clerical and clinical duties and reporting directly to a Clinic Manager, Physician, or other health practitioner. Those in large practices tend to specialize in a particular area and report to a Physician and/or Department Supervisor. This position will be working in the OB/Gyn department of Central Orem Clinic.

Skills / Requirements

Completion of a recognized Medical Assistant course is required. Excellent communication skills. Must be extremely detailed oriented and self motivated.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

Current certification for Medical Assistant (CMA) is preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
Volunteer experience in the health care field is also helpful.


Post-secondary programs usually last either one (1) year, resulting in a certificate or diploma, or 2 years, resulting in an associate degree. It is highly recommended that a successful candidate complete courses covering the topics of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology as well as typing, transcription, record keeping, accounting, and insurance processing.
