Location: UT-Logan
Facility: Medical Group Staff To provide quality patient care efficiently and cost effectively by assisting Physicians and other providers in their specialized areas. The Medical Assistant functions under the supervision of the Physician in the clinical setting and participates appropriately in the patient care delivery process. The Medical Assistant understands and utilizes a collaborative, team-based approach to patient care. A Medical Assistant performs routine clerical and clinical tasks to keep the offices and clinics of Physicians and other providers running smoothly. The duties of a Medical Assistant may vary from office to office, depending on practice location, size, and specialty. In small practices, a Medical Assistant is usually a "generalist," handling most clerical and clinical duties and reporting directly to a Clinic Manager, Physician, or other health practitioner. Those in large practices tend to specialize in a particular area and report to a Physician and or Department Supervisor. Duties of this position would include: Scheduling, coding, filing, scanning, charting, vital signs, medication administration and assisting the doctor as needed. Must know various procedures such as catheterization, EKG, minor surgery, etc Skills / Requirements
Must have proof of completion from an accredited Medical Assistant program with 160 hours externship and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Recommended high school courses include mathematics, health, biology, typing, bookkeeping, computers, and office skills. Volunteer experience in the health care field is also helpful. Because Medical Assistants deal with the public, they must be neat and well groomed and have a courteous, pleasant manner. A Medical Assistant must be able to put patients at ease and explain Physicians' instructions. They must respect the confidential nature of medical information. Clinical duties require a reasonable level of manual dexterity and visual acuity. Students should have completed the following in the classroom; learn laboratory techniques, clinical and diagnostic. Spanish speaking preferred. Will be required to work days, variable hours, to help cover in various departments. Important Notes
