Job: Polysomnographic Technologist, Registered

The Polysomnographic Technologist works under the general supervision of the Manager to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. The incumbent will administer technically accurate Polysomnography, insuring quality PSG recordings, and collecting and organizing other data pertinent to the interpretation to test results to be utilized by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.


This position is accountable for performing physiologic studies of sleep and sleep related disorders. The incumbent works independently for extended periods of time and is responsible for the following operational requirements and patient care: (1) testing, charting, scoring and data analysis for patients testing as required, (2) equipment and supplies, (3) patient education and in service, and (4) record keeping. This incumbent reports directly to the Department Manager and Medical Director of the Sleep Lab and interacts closely with other departments and Staff Physicians.

Requirements:

Must be a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.

One to years of polysomnography experience including scoring sleep lab studies during acquisition.

Good math skills and knowledge of basic human anatomy.

Excellent interpersonal, communication both oral and written skills required

Must also be able to work well without direct supervision

Basic computer experience.

Preferred:

College and/or continuing education preferred with emphasis on health, science or mathematics

Knowledge of basic EEG
