Jobing Description
Director of the statewide Parent Infant Program (PIP) for the Deaf at the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind; provides management of the deaf/hard-of-hearing division of PIP with regular coordination meetings with the PIP Program Specialist and Program Specialist of Deaf Mentor services; supervises and evaluates Early Intervention Hearing Consultants and other staff; oversees staff training; maintains an active role in the Interagency Coordinating Council, Statewide Early Intervention Providers, USDB Administrative Staff, with the USDB Advisory Council and in coordination with other organizations serving children with hearing loss; oversees program compliance to IDEA Part C rules and regulations; prepares annual budget and monitors program expenditures; conducts program evaluation and implements a plan for program improvement; performs other duties as assigned.
Skills / Requirements
Master's degree in Deaf Education required; possession of, or eligibility for a State of Utah Teaching license in Special Education with a “Deaf and Hard of Hearing” endorsement (required); Special Education license with “Early Childhood Education” endorsement (preferred); possession of, or ability to obtain an Early Intervention credential; minimum of three years experience working directly with children with hearing loss in early childhood. Preference will be giving to candidates who have an Administration license. In order to drive a state vehicle, incumbent must have a valid Utah driver license with clean driving record.
